
A three-day induction programme for newly-elected municipal councilors has today concluded. The Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD) conducted the training scheme at the Gulf Hotel in cooperation with the Ministry of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning. The participants in the induction week have been honoured on the sidelines of the final ceremony, along with the lecturers who took part in preparing and conducting the workshop
BIPD Executive Director Dr. Yasser Al-Alawi hailed the joint cooperation with the ministry to training the municipal councilors. In a statement to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), he said that the programme included, which started on Sunday (December28) featured six intensive workshops. The first two workshops were conducted by Legislation and Official Gazette director Dr. Malallah Al-Hamadi and Abdulrahman Al-Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning.
Former Central Municipal Council General-Secretariat Jaafer Mohammed Al-Hadi conducted the third workshop which focused on the duties of the municipal general-secretariat. The fourth workshop, which was conducted by Councils Affairs Department Chief Mahmoud Abdulhamid Al-Shaibani, centered on the edicts and recommendations issued by the Ministry of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning.
Former Central Municipal Council Chairman Abdulrazak Abdulla Hattab and Al-Watan editor-in-chief Yusuf Al-Binkhalil conducted the last two workshops which focused respectively on work procedures at service ministries and the role of the media in supporting the municipal councils.
