The Bahraini National Pavilion at GITEX 2017 will be launched on Sunday, 8th of October, in Dubai. A total of 45 ICT companies will be represented there, alongside the Bahrain Economic Development Board, Information and eGovernment Authority. Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH) and Tamkeen are also participating.

The first Bahrain Tech Awards to be held in parallel with GITEX Technology Week in Dubai is set to take place on 9th October, 2017, at 8 p.m. at the Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai.

Tamkeen Chief Executive, Dr. Ebhraim M. Janahi, stressed the importance of Bahrain’s participation in this international exhibition, saying, "As a strategic partner, Tamkeen is taking yet another active role towards stressing Bahrain’s regional leading position in ICT sector and its practices. Its support to the Bahrain’s Pavilion at Gitex is an eminent opportunity to showcase the products of the Bahraini companies and open the door for greater expansion as well as for exchange of expertise with leading international ICT companies."

BTECH President, Ubaidli Al-Ubaidli, expected the participation of 45 exhibitors from the public and private sectors within the pavilion with an increase of about 30 percent compared to last year’s event. He stressed that the expansion of Bahrain's participation in GITEX every year was a good indicator of the growing industry of Information Technology in Bahrain.

"Recording a Bahraini presence in this international forum for makers of information technology around the world was our goal in the first participations of Bahrain in GITEX. Now and after nine years of the first participation, our goal has become clearer. It is now promoting and enhancing the information and communications technology industry in Bahrain, raising the Bahraini companies’ share from 6 percent to 10 percent in the IT investments market in the Arabian Gulf, which is nearly US$30 billion," he said on the sidelines of the signing ceremony between BTECH and "Work Smart".

CEO of "Work Smart", Ahmed Al-Hujairi, confirmed that the company was keen to choose a great location for the Bahraini pavilion in GITEX 2017, with an open-plan design and including a permanent display screen on which on-going promotions about Bahrain's economic and investment advantages are shown.

Al-Hujairi said that co-ordination is being carried out with other pavilions and participants at GITEX to organise mutual visits. "All our efforts are in the service of participating Bahraini companies which are willing to invest in this global meeting to enter into new partnerships and increase their business and profits," he concluded.
