His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has stressed that municipal work should support the development march, and play a constructive role in the decision-making and development process of villages and cities across the kingdom.
"The citizens, wherever they are, should enjoy the services provided by the government," he said, affirming the government's keenness on implementing the proposals and recommendations submitted by municipal councils because they emanate from members of the Bahraini people through their representatives, and are meant to benefit the citizens, on the one hand , and develop municipal work, on the other.
He urged concerted efforts of municipal councils' members through democratic practices and effective cooperation in order to enhance the municipal work march and achieve its goals of ensuring better living standards for the community.
This came as HRH Premier received at the Gudaibiya Palace today the Northern Governorate's Municipal Council Chairman Mohammed Khalifa Bu Hamood, Deputy Chairman Ahmed Mohammed Al Kohaji and members.
HRH Premier was informed about the demands and needs of the citizens of the Northern Governorate regarding infrastructure, services and urban development.
HRH Premier said the government relies on municipal councils in enhancing municipal services and developing their role, being a key partner in developing Bahrain's various regions through contributing to the consolidation of the government's efforts to provide infrastructure and services that meet the citizens' prioritised needs.
He called on municipal councilors to allocate special importance to economic opportunities and investment priorities, given their positive impact on the national economy, in general, and the citizens, in particular, stressing that all obstacles facing municipal work can be removed since all executive bodies, he affirmed, had been instructed to cooperate fully with municipal councils.
HRH the Prime Minister affirmed the government's unwavering efforts to implement more service projects in the fields of housing, health, education, among others, in the Northern Governorate, as well as other governorates, noting that it will spare no effort to meet the citizens' expectations and ensure them the requirements of decent and prosperous life.
He stressed his personal follow-up of ministries and the other relevant sides, on a regular basis, to ensure that housing, health and education projects in the Northern Governorate are implemented without delay, and according to high quality standards.
"Municipal councils represent a form of popular participation, and naturally, they are the closest to the people and the most capable to determine their needs, and, therefore, they will receive all our support so as to ensure a better present and future for the nation and the people,"
"We are all working for the sake of the homeland and the citizens, and the latter's satisfaction is our ultimate goal, and we will do our utmost to follow up on all projects across the kingdom's cities and villages to ensure they reach the highest quality levels that our beloved citizens deserve," he added.
The Northern Governorate's Municipal Council's Chairman and members extended sincere thanks, gratitude and appreciation to HRH Premier for his interest and personal follow up on all service projects across the nation, in line with his keenness on providing more services that meet the citizens' needs and ensure their comfort.
They lauded HRH Premier's constant directives to ministers and officials to follow up on the needs of the Northern Governorate's citizens', which, they said, reflects his constant keenness to personally reach out the citizens' needs and meet them accordingly and timely.
They affirmed that HRH Premier's directives had filled the hearts of the Northern Governorate's citizens with joy and happiness, out of their conviction that he always takes the initiative to meet the citizens' needs without delay.
