
Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Minister Dr. Jum'a bin Ahmed Al-Ka'bi announced the date to receive nomination(s) for the (HRH Prime Minister's Award for Municipal Work 2013-2014).
On this occasion, the Minister has submitted utmost signs of gratitude and appreciation of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister's kind patronage of this award which reflects His Highness's keenness on supporting municipal work in the Kingdom.
Dr. Al-Ka'bi said that the award aims to encourage municipal initiatives, develop municipal work, stimulate research, creativity and innovation, find best ways that lead to improvement of municipal services, showcase the efforts of municipalities, civil society organizations, associations and individuals in municipal work and the means of boosting and developing alternatives, techniques, contribution and spreading the culture and public awareness among citizens and residents.
The Minister said that the prizes will be granted to the following five categories:
1- First category: Municipalities which develop services to citizens, boost financial resources, best use of property, rehabilitation of distinctive profitable projects in the region, increase green patches, creates gardens, decoration, afforestation and planting of trees and plants on the streets, roads and squares, landscaping, cultural, scientific and traditional frescos following pre-studied plans.
2- Second category: Municipalities that comply with the laws, awardable to best region in the Kingdom to a constituency which features high level of public cleanliness and least number of municipal violations as well as greatest compliance with municipal rules and regulations and most cooperation and coordination with municipal bodies, as well as the existence of aesthetic landscaping on the facades and front sides of houses and buildings.
3- Third category: Establishments and joint stock companies: this awardable to sponsoring companies and establishments which contribute to one or more project, programme such as donations toward creation of garden, parks, walkways, etc. and other projects.
4- Fourth category: Scientific research award in municipal field, includes scientific and field research studies on municipal work, the provision of suitable solutions to overcome their challenges in one aspect of domestic waste management, development of municipal services, repair and rejuvenation of dilapidated homes and their re-use in daily living as part of pre-studied scientific method and using information technology in municipal work, and coping with the challenges of municipal work in the Kingdom.
5- Fifth category: Awardable to civil society organizations and societies which support municipal work, exert efforts in support of municipal work, upgrading municipal work, efforts of public awareness regarding municipal work, including public lecturing, talk on the various mass media, organise and contribute to public awareness campaigns such as collective cleaning campaigns, etc. and participation in voluntary work in the field of municipal work, spreading municipal awareness during national, GCC and Arab municipal occasions.
