Bahrainis are being urged to come out in force and cast their ballots in the upcoming parliamentary and legislative elections. "Citizens who love their country should heed their future and that of their homeland and vote for the most competent candidates", Legislation and Official Gazette Director at the Legislation and Legal Opinion Authority Dr. Malallah Al-Hamadi said.
In a statement to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), he urged citizens to vote for competent postulants who are well capable of achieving their "ambitions and aspirations".
"If citizens elect the most competent and eligible candidates in the upcoming elections then we will have a strong parliament and viable municipal councils which will achieve a lot for the country and people", he said.
He hailed Bahrain’s democratic strides, describing the process which was heralded by His Majesty the King as an outright success, yielding positive results and legislations which enriched political life and served the interests of Bahrain and its people.
He commended the successive outgoing elected parliaments for their remarkable achievements, issuing 509 laws and approving 57 law decrees during the past three legislative terms.
He pointed out that all hopes are pinned on the upcoming elected parliament to continue the march of achievements which would meet citizens’ aspirations and ensure Bahrain further strides.
He paid tribute to HM the King for developing Bahrain’s political life and fast-tracking constitutional amendments to further consolidate the reform and democratic process. "The aim of the recent amendments is to bolster the role of the parliament, establish a balanced relation between the executive and legislative branches of government and rethink the bicameral system to ensure a bigger role for the lower house", he said.
