
Sudanese President Omar Hassan al Bashir has pledged to achieve peace across the country within 2016.
Bashir spoke Tuesday at a takeover ceremony between former acting Minister of Defense and Chief of Staff Mustafa Osman Obeid, and new Minister Awad Mohamed Ahmed Ibn Oaf.
Addressing the ceremony, Bashir vowed to continue support to the national Armed Forces to carry out their roles in the required manner.
He lauded the army's role in defending the homeland and the people's capabilities.
For his part, the new minister pledged to cooperate honestly with Armed Forces' Joint Staff and commanders for completing the development plan.
