
The Assistant of the UN Secretary-General and his Special Adviser for Yemen Jamal Benomar emphasized on Friday the importance of stopping all acts of violence immediately and that all have to act wisely.
In a statement to Saba upon return from Sa’ada, he expressed his concern over the deterioration of situations in Sana’a that it resulted in the use of weapons at a time efforts are exerted to find out a peaceful solution to the crisis.
“I have had talks with Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi over the past two days trying to bridge the gap among the different parties and agreed on a number of points to establish an agreement among the concerned parties to be based on the national dialogue conference,” Benomar said.
He added that “following the end of talks at a late hour on Thursday I came to know that the situation in Sana’a is deteriorating and I am displeased with the use of arms when we are endeavoring to reach a peaceful solution for the crisis.”
Benomar concluded his statement emphasizing the importance of all to immediately stop all violent acts, wishing those concerned parties conduct in a responsible manner in a way serving the supreme interests of Yemen.
