A bomb went off outside a residential tower for judges in the Delta city of Zagazig, but no casualties were reported.
The blast caused damage to the outer fence of the building.
Bomb disposal experts and civil defense troops rushed to the scene.
The police cordoned off the site.
A number of unidentified persons had planted the bomb near the tower.
An investigation has been launched.
