
Border guards are the first line of defense for Kuwait and the safety valve against any attempts to tamper with security, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah said on Monday.
Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled, also Acting Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Acting Defense Minister, made the statement during a tour that covered Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, the Jaber Causeway and Al-Abdali Sector which includes the centres of Um-Qasr, Um Naqa, Al-Azmia, Al-Mazare and Al-Abdali.
According to a press release by the Interior Ministry Security Media Department, Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled inspected work at project of Mubarak Al-Kabeer, on a helicopter, accompanied by MOI Undersecretary General Sulaiman Al-Fahad.
He expressed satisfaction over the stages that have been so far accomplished of the project and urged commitment to the schedule of the remaining phases.
Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled conveyed to the members of the Kuwaiti Border Guard Eid Al-Adha greetings by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
At the various border posts Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled visited, he was briefed by the field commanders on the mechanism of work there and the implementation of the set plans to protect the country's borders.
For his part, the Interior Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Border Security Affairs, Major General Sheikh Mohammad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah, stressed that the Kuwaiti land borders are "completely safe" thanks to the efforts by the borders guards who use the latest technology in the field.
He added that the major mission of the Kuwaiti Border Guard is to protect the country's land, air and sea borders against any potential violations or infiltration attempts.
