Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Saad El-Din Al-Othmani held talks here Saturday evening with the Joint UN-Arab League Envoy Lakhdar Brahim over the developments of the Syrian crisis. According to Agence Morocaine de Presse (MAP), Al-Othmani reiterated to Brahimi Morocco's stance on the territorial integrity and stability of Syria and conveyed Rabat's take on the developments in this dossier. Al-Othmani, according to the agency, stressed Morocco's political and humanitarian support for the Syrian people, citing the Friends of Syria Conference, hosted by Marrakech, as well as the initiative of King Mohammad VI of establishment of a field hospital in Zaatari Camp for Syrian refugees in Jordan. For his part, Brahimi stressed that the situation in Syria "is tragic and deteriorating by the day," adding that a political solution must be found to ensure the stability and security of the country. The Syrian people are demanding change to create a democratic Syria, Brahimi concluded, noting that the UN and Arab League are sparing no effort in putting an end to the crisis through a political solution.
