Cairo Governor Mostafa Saeed inspected the ongoing evacuation of residents at life-threatening areas in the Cairo slum neighborhood of Manshiyat Nasser, located at the bottom of the Mokattam Plateau.
The residents of Ali Al Banna, Al Shahba and Wadi Faroun areas are being relocated to safe houses in Giza's Sixth of October City.
So far, 550 out of 1,056 families in the three areas have been evacuated and moved to October City, the governor said.
Three-hundred houses that were built on limestone have been removed, he said.
The residents face risky challenges as their houses in this slum neighborhood are built on limestone, threatening cave-ins, and are located at the base of Mokattam Mountain, suffering from landslips.
