The Court of Cassation on Tuesday set January 22 to look into complaints presented by the prosecution against the court ruling cancelling prison sentences against four police officers accused of killing 37 prisoners while transferring them from Heliopolis police station to Abu Zabaal prison.
A misdemeanor appeals court had cancelled the indictment ruling and turned the lawsuit papers to the public prosecution for completing investigations.
Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat has issued a decision assigning the prosecution to study the reasons of the ruling, with the prosecution later filed a complaint at the court of cassation.
The misdemeanor court had sentenced one officer of the four to 10 years in prison and the three others for one year each with the stay of execution.
