His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II's Haqiq Initiative, has won the 2016 annual award of the San Marino-Alexander Bodini Foundation, granted for the world's two best organizations or initiatives.
Haqiq Initiative, (Achieve in English), focuses on a number of priorities that promote partnership with the United Nations Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), organizations and initiatives to set joint programs to promote children's and youth's rights.
The 2016 award underscores the importance of the initiative's role in preparing the young generation and presenting it (the initiative) as a model that could be adopted and applied regionally and internationally.
Jordan's Permanent Representative at the United Nations Dina Kawar received the award during a ceremony held Friday evening in New York, in the presence of the UN secretary-general and San Marino's Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The Crown Prince launched Haqiq Initiative in 2013, to help shape young men and women intellectually and skillfully. It targets students in public and private schools across the Kingdom, in cooperation with Ministry of Education. It graduates about 1200 students annually.
The $30,000 prize will be used to further train participants in the initiative in the fields of human, children and women rights and provide them with necessary skills in the fields of communications and voluntarism, in order to build a clear concept of an active citizenship.
