Military spokesman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Samir announced Sunday the arrest of a wanted and dangerous terrorist identified as Abdullah Salman Salem.
The terrorist was arrested upon intelligence information and as part of the army's efforts in launching campaigns in central Sinai, added the spokesman.
Seven sacks of highly-explosive TNT have been found in an area in Central Sinai along with three automatic rifles and large quantities of explosives, he added.
Also, a four-wheel drive vehicle and a motorcycle with no license plates were destroyed.
Egypt's Sinai Peninsula has witnessed unrest since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013, as terrorists focus their operations against police and army, especially in Rafah and Sheikh Zuweid.
