
Egypt's Health Ministry on Monday said the death toll among Egyptian pilgrims has risen to 17.
Some 98 Egyptian pilgrims received treatment at Saudi hospitals, 45 of them were discharged after their health improved, the ministry said in a statement.
As many as 35,393 pilgrims visited the outpatient clinics of the Egyptian Medical Mission, including 33,089 cases in Mecca, 1,371 in Medina and 933 in Jeddah, the statement added.
Hajj is an Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca. It is one of the five pillars of Islam and a religious duty that must be carried out by every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to do so at least once in his or her lifetime.
