Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal decided to adjourn the general session for 10 minutes over disagreement among the MPs about the percentage of forming coalitions.
The disagreements occurred following the approval of the majority of the MPs on Article 97, which is related to the percentage of formation of parliamentary coalitions.
The Article stipulates that the formation of a parliamentary coalition should not be less than 25% of the MPs and the members should be from 15 governorates, including at least three members from each governorate.
Before voting on the article, the MPs approved a proposal by MP Taher Abu Zeid to raise the required percentage to form the parliamentary coalition from 20 percent to 25 percent. But after that, several MPs opposed this proposal and called for reducing this percentage, a matter which forced the parliament speaker to adjourn the session for 10 minutes.
