The customs officers have foiled an attempt to smuggle 807.2 grams of amphetamine into Bahrain. They arrested an Asian woman at Bahrain International Airport in possession of the drug, locally known as "Shabu". "The officers who became suspicious of the woman searched her luggage and seized the plastic-covered narcotics in her suitcase, in addition to tools used in drug-taking", Customs Affairs President Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa said.
The suspect and the confiscated items were handed-over to the Anti-narcotics Directorate, an affiliate of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, to finalise legal procedures and refer the case to the Public Prosecution.
