Egypt is scheduled to assume on Friday its responsibilities as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for two years.
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said Egypt's membership at the UNSC will help it play a role in maintaining international security and stability.
This is one of the outcome of the June 30 revolution, he said, stressing that Egypt began to restore its leading role at the regional and international levels.
Egypt's foreign policy is based on neutrality and not interfering in domestic affairs of other countries, Shoukry noted.
He stressed that Egypt will intensify its efforts in the coming period to urge the international community to fight terrorism.
During its two-year membership of the UNSC, Egypt will support all Arab and African issues, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
Cairo has recently launched a campaign to gain the three-year membership of the African Union Peace and Security Council (PSC), he added.
Egypt's membership at both the UNSC and PSC will help it support issues of the African continent at international forums, he noted.
