Egypt is concerned about the delayed sealing of a final political deal among Libyan factions.
The Libyan parliament and a number of political powers in the country had reached an agreement on July 11 that is yet to be signed.
Egypt was expecting the UN and countries of influence on parties in western Libya to encourage moves to implement the deal by forming a national unity government, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid in a statement Monday.
There is no need to wait for parties that have not signed up, Abu Zeid said, believing those are only seeking to hinder the implementation of the political agreement.
The spokesman also blamed the delayed implementation of the agreement for the spread of terrorism in Libya.
Some believe it is an intended delay with the aim to create chaos and prevent the legitimate parliament to control the country, Abu Zeid said.
Egypt supports measures taken to fight terrorism in Libya, he added.
Egypt also supports the legitimate Libyan parliament, he further said.
The world community should not wait forever for the political agreement to be implemented, Abu Zeid said, noting that countering terrorism in Libya should be a top priority, especially in neighboring states.
Terrorism in Libya poses a threat to the national security of its neighbors, the spokesman said.
