
Egypt has today voiced its deep concerns over the latest developments unfolding in Yemen. It urged de-escalation so that a political settlement could be found, stressing the importance of respecting the outcome of the national dialogue and implementing the GCC Initiative.
Foreign Ministry’s Official Spokesperson Badr Abdul A’ati said that his country is conducting intensive contacts and consultation with the GCC countries and the Arab League and following up the deliberations at the UN Security Council.
Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri has also discussed the developments unfolding in Yemen with his counterparts and other key officials on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
Egyptian Ambassador to Sanaa has also stepped up contacts with all political forces so as to urge them to heed their country’s vital interests and territorial integrity above all other considerations.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s Official Spokesperson stressed the necessity of respecting Yemeni people’s will and achieving democratic aspirations without resorting to violence or escalation.
