Egypt continues its intensified contacts with all parties concerned and international key players to contain and deescalate the situation in Gaza, a statement by the foreign ministry reads.
Egypt is closely following with deep concern the escalation of the Israeli attacks in the Palestinian territories, the statement said.
Foreign Ministry has urged the parties concerned to resume the 2012 truce and end the violence against the innocent civilians "which may have dire consequences on the future of the peace process in the region."
Meanwhile, Egypt has reopened the Rafah border crossing to receive the Palestinian victims.
Also, the Defense Ministry has sent 500 tons of humanitarian aid to the residents in Gaza.
When violence between Israel and the Palestinians last flared up in 2012, Egypt was influential in brokering a ceasefire.
