
The Egyptian embassy in Sanaa is following up on the fishermen detained in Yemen.
The Yemeni public prosecution launched an investigation into the incident, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Badr Abdel Atti said on Tuesday.
Egypt's Ambassador in Sanaa Yousef el-Sharqawy has contacted a number of Yemeni officials to secure the release of the fishermen, he added.
On Sunday, Yemeni coast guards seized three Egyptian boats that were fishing illegally in the Yemeni territorial waters in the Red Sea.
The foreign ministry renewed warnings to Egyptian fishermen against violating Yemeni territorial waters.
