Egypt's Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmi asserted Egypt's keenness on cooperating with the UN to enable the Libyan government from controlling the illegal weapons, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Badr Abdel-Ati. This came during Fahmi's meeting with UN Secretary General Ban Kimoon on Thursday. The meeting also took up Egypt's initiative to establish an international fund for this aim, Abdel-Ati said. Fahmi asserted Egypt's apprehensions about the humanitarian situation in Syria, showing support to political solutions not military ones. In remarks on the developments of the internal situation in Egypt, Fahmi asserted the commitment of the Egyptian government to build democratic institutions.
