Egypt leads discussions of disarmament conference

The activities of the Disarmament Conference in Geneva, under Egypt, will resume sessions on efforts exerted to make the world free from nuclear weapons after the failure of the 2015 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

It failed to adopt a final document to state future steps for nuclear disarmament.

Egypt was chosen to run the discussion about the measures needed to be adopted for nuclear disarmament in the meetings held by the Geneva Disarmament Conference in the period between 11 to 18 June, 2015.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Saturday, Ambassador Amr Ramadan said that choosing Egypt for running the discussions reflects appreciation of its role in promoting international efforts to make the world free from nuclear weapons.
