
The seventh round of political negotiations between Egypt and Mexico kicked off in Mexico City Tuesday.
Assistant Foreign Minister for American Affairs Mohamed Farid Mounib led Egypt's delegation to the talks.
Mounib already met with Mexican Foreign Minister José Antonio Meade Kuribreña and Executive Director of the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID) Juan Manuel Valle Pereña, as well as members of the Africa relations committee at the Mexican Senate and the director of international affairs at the Mexican agency for commercial and investment promotion.
Talks took up means of boosting bilateral relations in all fields, said a statement by the Foreign Ministry here Tuesday.
They also reviewed draft agreements and memorandums of understanding, particularly those related to double taxation and air transport, the statement said.
A number of twinship memos between Egyptian and Mexican cities were also probed, it added.
An agreement has been signed between the Egyptian Agency for Partnership Development (EAPD) and the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID), under which both countries should jointly act to promote development cooperation in Africa.
The two sides issued a joint statement reflecting their close views regarding regional and international issues and their cooperation at the international level.
The two sides stressed their intention to boost cooperation in all fields, especially where trade exchange and investments are concerned.
Mounib extended an invitation from Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry to Mexico's Kuribreña to visit Egypt.
The Mexican top diplomat welcomed the idea. Mounib and Kuribreña agreed to set a date for the visit between the two governments.
The Egyptian Embassy in Mexico City will follow up agreements reached during the seventh round of negotiations.
The eighth round is set to be held in Cairo later this year.
