Egyptian Ambassador to Libya Mohamed Abu Bakr said on Thursday that Egypt plays a major role in supporting the Libyan dialogue, expecting that a final deal could be reached within the coming few weeks.
"What has been achieved in Geneva meeting that concluded on Wednesday represents a major step towards reaching a final deal," Abu Bakr told MENA on the sidelines of his participation in the two-day get-together.
"The goal is not only to reach a final agreement, but to implement that deal, which requires support from all parties," he said.
He added that a meeting will be held in the Moroccan city of Skhirat to discuss the nominees for the posts of prime minister and his deputy, which will be submitted by the internationally-recognized parliament in Tobruk.
Libya has been divided between two governments based in Tobruk (the internationally recognized House of Representatives) and Tripoli (the new General National Congress supported by Libya Dawn) since July 2014, while the Islamic State is also vying for power in the conflict-affected country.
