Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab called on Sunday for better organizing the agenda of the African summits.
Having a heavy agenda together with opening speeches of leaders, guests and observers certainly affect time left for the heads of state to go into detailed discussions on core issues, Mahlab said during a behind-closed-door consultative session of the African summit that kicked off earlier in the day.
This leads at the end to endorsing many resolutions without real discussion which means slow-pacing implementation rate, he said.
To avoid this, the Egyptian premier called for reducing the number of resolutions adopted by the summit and following up the resolutions that were adopted.
He also suggested making one of the two annual AU summits for taking resolutions and the other one for following up implementation of the first one's resolutions.
