Egypt's Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa stressed that Hajj should not be used to serve political and partisan goals.
Gomaa praised a meeting held Monday with Saudi Hajj Minister Bandar Hajjar, commending ties binding both countries.
Gomaa, who presides over Egypt's Hajj mission, noted that he was chosen to deliver the word of the Hajj delegations' heads before the Saudi king.
Earlier in the day, the official Hajj mission called on Saudi authorities to deport an Egyptian pilgrim who was arrested over chanting slogans against the Arab rulers in the holy mosque in Mecca.
