
Egypt supports efforts aiming to end the presidential vacuum in Lebanon, affirmed Egypt's Ambassador to Lebanon Mohamed Badr el Deen Zayed.
He said that Egypt also backs holding an internal political dialogue in Lebanon to agree on a new president.
Following his visit to former Lebanese president Michel Suleiman to extend condolences over his mother's demise, Zayed said that Lebanon should restore its crucial role in the region, adding that Egypt attaches great importance to this issue.
He also voiced hope that the political dialogue would be in the interest of the Lebanese people and meet their aspirations in achieving security and stability.
During his meeting with Suleiman, the Egyptian ambassador discussed distinguished ties binding Egypt and Lebanon and ways of boosting them.
They further discussed a host of regional and Arab issues of mutual interest.
