Abdel Fattah El Sisi underlined that Egypt is supporting the new Libyan national unity government and will continue helping Libya, especially as Egypt will access the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member as of 2016
During a meeting Saturday with Fayez Seraj, the head of the Presidency Council of the Libyan Government of National Accord, Sisi underscored the importance of propping up the Libyan state institutions, especially the army and police which are the cornerstone for restoring Libya's security and combating terror.
Sisi urged lifting the embargo imposed on extending weapons to the Libyan army in order to be able to carry out its missions.
Seraj – who is on his first visit to Egypt - said realizing the Libyan sovereignty requires that confining military force to the state institutions only.
Sisi accentuated that Egypt would spare no effort to support the new Libyan government to carry out its missions and realize the aspirations of the Libyans.
Seraj stressed that the government will work in the coming period on realizing security and boosting economy.
Seraj said the government will rally efforts to confront terror organizations in Libya that harm the state's unity and target innocent people.
He added that these terror organizations pose danger to Libya's neighboring states.
Meanwhile, Seraj tackled the Libyans conditions in Egypt and Sisi promised to review requests of Libyan nationals in Egypt and further facilitate their residency in Egypt, Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said.
