Egypt will recover its full membership at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) on March 19 during the union's meeting in Zambia, Speaker of the House of Representatives Ali Abdel Aal said.
During a meeting with newspapers chief editors and MENA board chairman Monday, Abdel Aal said the parliament is forming a delegation of lawmakers who can speak English and French to head to the European Parliament HQ in Brussels in April to explain human rights conditions in Egypt in light of an EP report in this regard.
The IPU had suspended Egypt's membership in October 2013 after the country's parliament was dissolved, saying that with no parliament Egypt could no longer qualify for membership.
