Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid Tuesday voiced Egypt's deep concern over the escalating military operations in Syria over the past few days.
Egypt denounces having the lives of civilians subject to danger, the spokesman said, stressing that Egypt denounces all forms of terror and extremism and the intimidation of Syrian nationals.
He reiterated Egypt's call for a political solution to the Syrian crisis and welcomed the UN Security Council's adoption of the de Mistura plan on resuming political negotiations among the Syrian parties.
The spokesman called on the parties concerned to work constructively with the UN envoy in a way that ensures realizing the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people in terms of unity and security of the state.
The opposition powers met in Cairo in June and suggested a roadmap for a political solution through negotiations, he said, adding that Egypt sees that it has elements that would help reach the aspired solution as long as there is a political will on the part of the Syrian parties and the international community.
