Almost all polling stations across Egypt closed doors at 9:00 p.m. on Monday at the end of the first day of the presidential elections. A number of stations remained open after that time to enable the voters to cast their ballots, according to the state-run TV. Heads of the 13,899 polling stations have overseen the sealing up of the ballot boxes before leaving them under police-military guard. The voting will resume at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow and last for another 12 hours before the start of the vote count pursuant to the schedule specified by the High Election Committee. In a related development, the Ministry of Health reported two normal deaths at polling stations - one involving a 65-year old man in Hada'eq Al-Qobba district of Cairo, and another in Beheira governorate involving a 63 years old man. In addition, 29 people got sick inside polling stations in 12 governorates, the ministry added. Earlier today, an insider of the Ministry of Interior denied press reports on bomb attacks on the intelligence premises in Hada'eq Al-Qobba. What happened is that a car, parking near the site caught fire because of a short circuit, the source told KUNA, calling on the mass media to be more accurate and avoid triggering panic
