The terms of the Egyptian initiative for an immediate ceasefire is in line with the terms of the 2012 truce agreement, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki said.
The initiative came after Egypt had contacted with Israel and some Palestinian factions specifically 'Hamas Movement' and it provides opportunities for a successful truce, he added in a statement.
He asserted that Egypt is the most efficient player to provide that initiative and its proposals, noting no one could replace Egypt in this regard.
"We told Arab foreign ministers during their meeting last night in Cairo that Israel has been launching until this moment an aggression on the Gaza Strip, which leads to further victims," he said.
While contacting with UN envoys, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas was asking for an immediate ceasefire and providing proposals for the truce, he asserted.
He added that Arab foreign ministers stressed much sympathy with Palestinian people, who have been under Israeli air strikes for over one week.
The Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip has left so far at least 185 people dead, some of whom are women and children, and more than 1,500 others injured.
