The first retrial session of former president Hosni Mubarak and his two sons Alaa and Gamal will start on April 4 at Cairo Criminal Court.
Mubarak and his two sons were convicted last May of embezzling 125 million pounds originally allocated for renovating presidential palaces in order to establish and develop their private buildings.
The former president received a three-year prison sentence and his sons four-year sentences.
They were also sentenced to pay a fine of about 125 million pounds and return 21,197,000 million pounds.
On January 13, 2015, the Cassation Court annulled Alaa, Gamal Mubarak's conviction and ordered a retrial.
Stating its reasons behind the acquittal, the court said the two have exceeded allowable remand custody period of 18 months.
The pair started their remand custody on June 25 of 2013 in connection with presidential palaces case then on May 21 of 2014 the Criminal Court sentenced both of them to four years in jail.
Under the criminal procedure law, the two should be released and can no more be kept in remand custody.
