
The Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed that the Arab summit will be held at a moment when the Arab nation is facing unprecedented challenges, yet we are able to deal with them.
During a joint news conference with Secretary General of Arab League (AL), Dr. Nabil El-Araby at the conclusion of the preparatory meetings of the Arab Foreign Ministers for Arab summit, which were held here yesterday evening, Shoukry said 'We met in a special session on the situation in Yemen and we adopted efficient and effective policy reinforce this positive spirit that prevailed today, a policy will be pursued by Egypt during its presidency of the Arab summit.'
He stated that the situation in Yemen accounted for a large part of the ministerial meeting and there was a special session to discuss the situation in Yemen and to issue a statement in support of the coalition's operation at a request of the legitimate President.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister also pointed out that there is an international support from partners feel the importance of carrying out this responsibility by Arab countries, calling for the need to deal with what threatens Arab national security.
For his part, the Secretary General of the Arab League Dr. Nabil El-Arabi said that the summit is meeting at a crucial time for Arab world , pointing out that the Arab citizen is deeply concerned that the Arab national security is being threatened now than ever before and there is infighting in the east and west as well as terrorist operations stretching from one place to another.
He stressed that the objective sought by the Egyptian presidency and the General Secretariat of the Arab League is to focus on this issue, which threatens Arab national security.
The Arab League Secretary General further said that the Foreign Ministers agreed to approve the establishment of a joint Arab force and a decision in this regard has been submitted to Arab leaders.
On Yemen, Dr. El-Arabi said: There was a complete understanding and a decision was made despite some reservations, but the decision gave the strength of what has been adopted and is based on Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and the Arab League's charters, and for the first time it is based on the Joint Arab Defense Treaty signed in 1950.
He described the decision as a major step for the Arab League and a historic decision for the Joint Arab Action.
He said that the decision will be submitted to the Arab Summit.
On the participation of the Yemeni president in the Arab summit, the Arab League Secretary General said: 'There is no doubt that President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi is invited to attend the Summit.'
