Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry ordered to swiftly finalize machine-readable passports (MRPs) as soon as possible.
Under the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regulations, all non-MRPs should be out of circulation by 24 November 2015.
The minister ordered the Passports Issuing Center affiliated with the Foreign Ministry to work around the clock to issue automated passports for all applicants as the ICAO deadline is looming.
In statements to MENA on Thursday, Assistant Foreign Minister for consular Affairs Hisham el-Nakib urged all Egyptian expatriates to apply for getting MRPs.
