The Egyptian Security forces foiled attempts to bomb two booby-trapped cars near Sheikh Zuwayed police station Northern Sinai on Saturday, leaving two officers wounded.
The Security forces tried to stop four suspected cars which were heading to Sheikh Zuwayed police station, Middle East News Agency quoted security sources as saying.
The cars continued their way to the police station, prompting security forces to open fire toward them before arriving to the station. Two cars exploded after an exchange of fire between the security forces and gunmen, as the other two cars managed to escape, the sources added.
Meanwhile, two officers were wounded in the operation to deactivate the booby-trapped cars near the police station and were transferred to a nearby hospital.
