Egyptian stripped of nationality over joining al Qaeda

Prime Minister Sherif Ismail approved stripping an Egyptian of his nationality for joining a terrorist group abroad and involvement in activities against Egypt and some European countries.
Mohammed Samy Mohamed Abdel Aal, who left Egypt at a young age, was sentenced in 2008 to four years in jail in Austria over joining al Qaeda.
The stripping decision that was published in the official gazette is applied under item 26 of 1975 Egyptian nationality law.
