Transport Minister Hany Dahy inspected the scene of an accident at the metro station of Abbassiya, where a metro train hit a platform.
The metro was exiting the maintenance workshop on a branch line when it collided with a buffer, Cairo Metro spokesman Ahmed Abdel Hadi has said earlier.
The driver was injured and moved to hospital but no other casualties reported as the train was passenger-free, the spokesman said.
The suspension is restricted to the stations between Fair Zone and Attaba stations, while the rest of the line is working normally, he said.
The collided train is being lifted for the return of the rail movement, he said.
