
Some 192 Egyptians were airlifted from the Tunisian airport of Djerba after violence escalated in Libya.
Several of the evacuated individuals affirmed to the press that they have left Libya due to fears of being targeted by the Islamic State militants.
The airlift measure was undertaken by the Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation yesterday. More airlifts will take place to ensure the safe return of the Egyptian nationals in Libya.
Islamic State militants had recently executed 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians in Libya, and such was evident through a short video showing the brutal killing.
Egypt responded with airstrikes aimed at the Islamic State elements in Libya.
