Acting upon precise information, joint forces of the army and police destroyed a terrorist hotbed in Wahat in the Western Desert on Monday.
The terrorists in the site were planning to launch attacks on vital targets and foreign interests in the country, said the Armed Forces.
Ten militants were killed in the operation and three vehicles used by the terrorists were also destroyed.
An arms cache was also bombed by the troops.
The Wahat operation came as the army, backed by police units, continued its full-scale campaign in North Sinai against terrorists for the 15th day in a row.
Nine militants were killed today in exchange of fire with the troops. Seventeen suspects were arrested while hideouts, vehicles, motorbikes and explosive charges were destroyed.
The Right of the Martyr campaign was launched earlier this month to uproot terrorist groups in the province.
