Egypt's National Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) has condemned the demolition of antiquities in Mosul museum by Daesh militant group in Iraq.
In a statement released on Monday, the committee deeply regretted this barbaric act which does not represent the Islamic teachings or comply with the values of the Arab people who highly appreciate and honor human civilizations.
The committee urged the international community to immediately intervene to protect the Iraqi heritage and halt any smuggling of the Arab antiquities whether in Iraq, Libya or Syria.
It also called on neighboring countries to control their borders to ban any smuggling operations which provide funding for such terrorist groups.
