
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry returned home Thursday from Eritrea, concluding a two-day African tour had taken him to South Sudan as well.
During his visit of Asmara, the Egyptian top diplomat met with Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and presidential adviser for political affairs Yemane Gebreab.
Shoukry handed over an invitation from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to the Eritrean president for a summit of the three African economic trade blocs; the East African Community (EAC), the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to be held in Sharm El Sheikh in June.
In Juba, the foreign minister met with South Sudanese President Salva Kiir and Foreign Minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin.
