Egypt's FM Shoukry asserts need for standing up to militant challenges

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry asserted on Wednesday the dire need for standing up to the challenges facing international peace and security by terrorist groups.
Addressing the activities of a UN Model Simulation that was organized by the American University in Cairo, Shoukry added that this issue is of the major priorities of Egypt in order to establish peace and security in Libya and other countries that are threatened by trans-border terrorism extending from west Africa to the Sahel and Sahara area ending at Afghanistan.
This is why, he added, the United Nations should affirm its commitment to fighting terrorism and urge its member-states to cooperate in this domain.
The current complicated and intricate challenges that are affecting international peace and security require rational governance at the international level to support action that is aimed at reforming the United Nations so that the United Security Council would become more effective and more democratic, he added.
