
Egypt's Interior Minister Maghdy Abdel Ghaffar met with Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) John O. Brennan in Cairo to discuss security matters of common concern, a statement by the ministry reported Monday.
The meeting dealt with recent security developments in the region and activities of terror groups, especially Daesh.
Abdel Ghaffar briefed Brennan on efforts made by the Interior Ministry to confront violent operations carried out by the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group and its allies in attempts to disturb security and stability in the country.
The minister and the CIA head lauded cooperation between the ministry agencies and the CIA in exchanging information and experiences on combating extremists.
Brennan said his country is keen to boost cooperation with Egypt in various areas, especially the security field.
