
British police announced on Friday, May 29th, 2015, the arrest of a 16 year old young man of the town of Colchester on charges of killing the late Saudi scholarship student Nahed Almanea, SPA reported on Monday.
Essex County Police explained that they arrested the offender last Tuesday while he was walking along the road in which Nahed Almanea was killed on suspicion of possession of a sharp, offensive weapon.
After his arrest, he was charged with killing Nahed Almanea and British citizen James Attfield.
The accused appeared at Chelmsford Court on Saturday, May 30, 2015 and Monday, June 1st, 2015, and was charged with killing Nahed Almanea and James Attfield. The sessions were attended by the lawyer of the Saudi embassy in London.
A Chelmsford Court judge postponed the case until 13 July with the accused remaining in custody.
The case has been and will remain a priority for Saudi embassy. The British authorities have made unremitting efforts to uncover the circumstances of the crime and bring the perpetrator to justice.
Nahed Almanea was killed last June while walking to her university from her residence.
