The Arab League held on Tuesday an extraordinary meeting under Jordan on means of confronting heinous Daesh crimes, especially in the Libyan city of Sirte.
The meeting comes at a request from Libya, Jordan's permanent representative to the Arab League Bishr Khasawneh said.
The interim Libyan government has asked the Arab states to launch air strikes against Daesh in Libya within the framework of the Joint Defense and Economic Cooperation of the League of Arab States.
Daesh militants are reported to have beheaded 12 people and crucified their bodies during the fight for the Libyan city of Sirte.
The Libyan government said that there was a "massacre" going on in the city as Daesh seeks to expand the areas it controls.
The majority of Sirte fell into Daesh's hands at the end of May.
