UAENationalDay45
Sharjah - Arab Today

As part of the UAE’s 45th National Day, the Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority, EPPA, Monday launched a number of activities at the Sharjah Desert Park, where the Natural History and Botanical Museum is located.

The celebrations will continue until December 3, 2016. Other activities will also be held by EPAA Centres in the Eastern Region, including the Beach Park in Kalba, Khor Fakkan and other centres.

These celebrations aim to reinforce the patriotic spirit and honour the memory of the founders of the United Arab Emirates. They also seek to celebrate the nation’s Union, highlight the progress made and acquaint younger generations with these achievements, energising them with the feelings of love, loyalty and belonging to their nation and its leadership.

The celebration opened with the National Anthem and the National Oath performed by the students of Al Ghafiya School, followed by a tour of the exhibition associated with the celebrations. This was followed by theatrical shows and the military demonstration, in addition to folkloric games, popular songs and poems, and performances by the Military Group. The festivities included educational and recreational workshops and marches in the Eastern Region.

"The celebration of the UAE’s National Day is a national and ethical duty. It is our duty towards our homeland to express our appreciation of, and pleasure with, the birthday of our union. On this day 45 years ago, everyone’s eyes shone with joy and happiness, and that happiness has remained across the whole nation," said Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, EPAA Chairperson Al Suwaidi noted that the National Day celebration is a source of pleasure for everyone in the country. It is the most important date in the country’s history, as it was the inception of the progress, security and prosperity enjoyed by the state at all levels. It is an occasion that reminds every one of the founding fathers, notably the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who anchored this nation and made the UAE his top priority.

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, have followed Sheikh Zayed’s example and made the UAE a symbol of progress, prosperity and security, not only at the regional level, but also the global level, she added.
