
The Emirate Red Crescent (ERC) has concluded its participation in the 32nd International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, which ended yesterday in Geneva.
Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ERC, led the foundation's delegation to the meeting, which discussed ways to enhance the role of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, ICRC, and promote partnership and cooperation among its members, as well as with national societies.
Al Mazrouei said the conference which was held amid a lot of humanitarian challenges faced by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, discussed basic issues pertaining to the future of the ICRC and ways to address the growing current and future challenges such as: disasters threats and facing crises, climate change, migration issues and enhance health systems, challenges of contemporary international humanitarian law and work together in order to combat sexual violence and violence based on gender, as well as to strengthen legal frameworks to address any emergency.
He also emphasised that the ERC has achieved its global stature thanks to the support given by the UAE's wise leadership and the continuous initiatives and directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, aimed to enhance the role being played by the philanthropic body to expand its activities locally and internationally, as well as to activate its mechanisms to reach the needy people everywhere
